Robert Clark Russell, Sr., of Athens, Alabama, passed away on Tuesday January 6, 2026. Visitation will be Tuesday January 13th from 1:30 to 2:00 at Roselawn Funeral Home. The graveside service will held at Roselawn Cemetery at 2:00 with Jimmy Meek officiating.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette and sister, Miriam Baker; his children Bob (Barbara) Russell and Mitzi (Joey) Wyler; stepchildren Greg (Suzy) Roberts, Debbie (Morgan) Hill, Sandy (Ricky) Moye, Jon (Kim) Ray, Mitch Ray, Jeff (Denise) Ray and Lisa Lindsay, as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Clark was preceded in death by his father, John and mother, Annie Mae; his siblings James, Paul, Emerson, Hugh, Raymond, Estellena, Ruth and Marilyn.
After graduating from Austinville High School, Clark served two years in the USAAF. Upon leaving the service, he began his career as a Tool and Dye machinist. He worked in the AeroSpace industry and at other specialty machine shops in Decatur and Huntsville.
Clark loved being outdoors. One of his early accomplishments was building a 25 foot cabin cruiser so family and friends could share time on the river—skiing, camping and fishing. He was a smart man ahead of his time—whether working on hobbies or repairing anything found in his home--his intellect and hard work was apparent to all. As the years went by, and time slowed down, being at the river became fishing from the bank or just sitting at the river’s edge enjoying the beauty of the setting sun on the horizon.
Pall bearers will be family and friends.
