

Russell Evern King of Madison, Alabama passed away on January 17, 2026. Due to inclement, weather services for Russell will be scheduled on a later date. He will be laid to rest at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
Russell is survived by his wife Jill King of the home, his brother Robert Adir of Florida. Also surviving are Russell’s children, daughter Barbara and Joe Williams, son James and Nancy King, daughter Dawn and Jeff McIlroy, daughter Richelle and John Szegda, daughter Kristina and Steven Diekema, all of Michigan, Kelley and Ken Stapler of Alabama, and Andrea and Patrick Gray of Illinois. He is also survived by his 14 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 3 nieces Diane, Tami and Mary.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother James and Anne King, brother Micheal King.
Russell Evern King lived a life defined by dedication, service, and a deep love for the outdoors. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1960 to 1963. After returning home, he built a long and respected career as a plumber with Local Union 370 Plumbers and Pipe Fitters from 1963 to 1976, later working at General Motors Truck and Bus Flint Assembly.
Russell was a proud Mason with the Montrose 428 Masonic Lodge, a dedicated Shriner, and an active member of the American Legion Grand Blanc Post 413. He also enjoyed time spent at the Green Head Duck Club, where he shared countless memories with friends and family.
An avid outdoorsman, Russell found peace in nature and joy in every moment spent outside. He will be remembered for his steady presence, strong work ethic, and the quiet but unwavering loyalty he showed to those he loved.
In lieu of flowers, family would prefer donations to be made in his name to local animal shelters, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, or Fraternal Order of Eagles Decatur, AL 4185.
