Teresa Morgan Getman

Teresa was raised on a small farm in Elm Grove, Louisiana where the family tended a large garden, an orchard, cows, chickens, ducks, rabbits, honey bees and 1 horse named Gray.

The family attended Koran Baptist Church, which was a huge part of her life. She sang in the youth choir. She often rode the Church bus her Daddy drove and would pass out candy to the children riding on Sundays.

Out of high school, she earned her cosmetology license. She worked a few years as an insurance administrator, earning numerous industry certifications. She also spent several years as a Mary Kay consultant, earning a Mary Kay car and eventually rising to the level of unit director. Once her children were of school age, she finally followed her heart and become a teacher. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Athens State University in 2009, graduating magna cum laude. She went on to teach in Huntsville City Schools for several years.

In September 1986, she married the love of her life, Robert Paul "Rob" Getman. Rob has always been her biggest cheerleader and a constant rock, especially during her illness. They had 2 amazing boys, William Scott "Billy" (Autumn) Getman of Clarkston, Michigan, and Andrew McLean Getman of Denton, Texas.

Teresa is survived by her Mama, Jeanette Thomas Morgan and sister, Anita Kaye Morgan (Randy) Abney of Cumming, Georgia; nephews Michael Douglas (Jenni) Morgan of Aubrev, Texas, and Derek Wayne (Megan) Smith of Cumming, Georgia; nieces Melisa Kaye (Daniel) Pongracz of Cumming, Georgia, and Jennifer Dawn"Jenna" (Steve) Collins of Panama City Beach, Florida, and many great nieces and nephews and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her Daddy, Carl Shelby Morgan, brother, Karl Michael “Mike” Morgan and many family members. She was an active member at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Decatur, AL.

She is dearly loved and will be sorely missed.
