Thomas Dewey Edgil Jr.

Thomas Dewey Edgil, Jr. (Tommy), passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2023. A graveside service will be held Sunday, December 3, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Roselawn Cemetery in Decatur, Alabama. The family will receive friends and family prior to the service at Roselawn Funeral Home from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.

Tommy was born March 6, 1934 in Decatur, Alabama where he was a resident his entire life. He graduated from Decatur High School. He proceeded to obtain his BS degree in Business from the University of Alabama. After college, Tommy served three years in the United States Army and was stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He returned to Decatur following his service and met and married the love of his life, Mary Virginia Beal. They raised three children. Tommy had a successful career in real estate and went on to start his own business as a real estate appraiser, from which he retired. Tommy was an avid golfer and a founding member of Burningtree Country Club.

Tommy is survived by his three children; son Trey Edgil (Sherri), daughter Allison Cartwright (Ty) and daughter Jeanie Parker (Keith); five grandchildren, Alex Cartwright, Lane Cartwright Creech, Cooper Cartwright, Shelby Parker and Samantha Parker. He was a loving husband, father and friend and will be deeply missed.
