William Harold Atkinson, 84, died August 4, 2012, at St. Vincent's East Hospital in Birmingham. Funeral will be today at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with Bill Compton officiating. Interment will be at Decatur City Cemetery.
Mr. Atkinson was born November 5, 1927, in Birmingham to William and Gussie Atkinson. He was retired from Osborne Truck Lines. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Barbara Atkinson.
Survivors include his sons, Steve Atkinson (Dora) and Robin Atkinson (Katrina); daughter, Susan Nichols (Ralph); sister-in-laws, Evelyn Sharp and Betty Johnson; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
