Dolores Rigert is survived by her husband of 66 years, William Rigert Sr, four children, William (Debbie Schmidt) Rigert Jr, Joseph (Kathleen) Rigert, Linda (John) Hawkins, Andrew Rigert; eight grandchildren, Joseph W. (Alice) Rigert, Jenna (Neil Meguid) Rigert, Brianna (Justin) Groce, James (Angela) Rigert, Matthew Rigert, Karley Hawkins, Gabriella (Frank) Romero, Travis Hawkins; five great-grandchildren; Finley, Quinn, Lilah, Leila, with the first boy arriving in August.
Dolores was born on August 2, 1934 to Joseph and Louise Keller in the Bronx. Dolores grew up in Queens attending Bayside High School. Dolores and Bill went to the same High School but first connected while each vacationing with family in Upstate New York. Dolores and Bill would later marry in 1957. In 1964 they bought a home in Deer Park where they would go on to raise their 4 children. Dolores worked in the Newsday Finance department for 15 years.
Dolores Rigert was active at SS Cyril and Methodius Church in Deer Park. She created a beautiful home for her children and grandchildren including countless holidays filled with so much, love, laughter, whiskey sours and “nish noshes”
Dolores enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and took every opportunity to see them. She always made it a point to check in with many of her grandchildren weekly over the phone.
Dolores also enjoyed to travel and vacation. She spent many winters enjoying the beach (one of her favorite places) down in Vero Beach, Florida. One of her favorite vacation destinations is Sunny Hill Resort and Golf Course located in the Catskill Mountains of upstate New York. For many years Dolores enjoyed a long weekend every fall and a week long vacation at the end of June with her entire family ever year at Sunny Hill.
Locally, Dolores enjoyed the North Babylon Senior Citizens located on Spangle Drive, get togethers with members of her Church, playing dominoes at Panera and lunch and dinner dates with friends and family.
Her love for photographs and family history are displayed throughout her home and shared with her entire family.
Dolores lived for her family and we will continue to carry her memory everywhere we go.
A visitation for Dolores will be held Sunday, April 28, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM at Boyd-Caratozzolo Funeral Home. A visitation will occur Sunday, April 28, 2024 from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM. A mass of christian burial will occur Monday, April 29, 2024 at 10:15 AM at Ss Cyril & Methodius RC Church, Deer Park Ave, Deer Park, NY. A burial will occur Monday, April 29, 2024 at 12:00 PM at St Charles Cemetery, 2015 Wellwood Ave, Farmingdale, NY.
