Joseph is preceded in death by his loving mother Margaret Mary, father Joseph, his beloved Uncle John "Jack" Teahan, whom he adored deeply & by whom he was always refer to as "BJ (baby Joe) as well as his cherished cousin James Joseph Wilson.
Joseph is survived by his partner, Christine Connolly; his children - Brianne Mairghaed, Sean Joseph & Molly Bernadette; grandsons Liam James & Jack Joseph; his cousin Sean Philip Hennessy - whom he loved as a brother & referred to as his "true best friend"; his aunts, Bernadette Teahan & Ann Marie Wilson; as well as countless nieces, nephews & cousins by whom he will be sorely missed.
Joe was an alumni of St. Cyril & St Methodius primary School in Deer Park, Seton Hall (almost class of '75) High School, and St John the Baptist High School. He took great joy in connecting with school chums through social media & lamented that he would miss attending the upcoming Seton Hall Reunion.
Born in Brooklyn & raised on Long Island, Joe was a fixture at Vanderbilt's Warf & the Oakdale Sportsman Club in his younger years. Many of his great friendships were forged at local watering holes around Long Island. He prided himself on being a Bellport Football dad snapping photos from the sidelines & deeply enjoyed vacations with his kids - skiing trips, Boy Scout campouts & daddy daughter dances. He took immense pride in all of his children as well as his partner Christine's children with whom he loved to spend time.
Joe relocated to Austin, Texas in his later life with his partner Christine. He loved the weather, the food & the people. A life long salesman, angler & golfer, Joe was blessed to have known true happiness and contentment sharing his life with Christine there along with their good dogs Murphy & Lucy, golfing with his buddies & taking in the rodeo.
When medical tragedy befell him in June of 2023, Joe was rallied around by friends & family who offered companionship, hope, faith, love & support as he navigated the treacherous unknown of his diagnoses & all the trouble that came with them.
His greatest regret was the loss of time with loved ones. He was overjoyed to become a grandfather & yearned to hold his grandbabies in his arms; to relax on the couch for a snuggle with his pup.
A fighter to the end, Joe surmounted the impossible in the last 10 months of his life. Impressing his care givers with his sweet personality & infectious humor, often introducing them to the music of Wilson Pickett or Shane McGowan, discussing his favorite sports teams - The Mets, The Jets and The Longhorns, & showing off photos of his children and grandsons.
The precious gift of time that Joe was granted at the end of his life allowed him to reconnect with friends & family in a way many people are never afforded. He was deeply grateful & will be sorely missed.
