

A long-time resident of Dix Hills, died on November 20, 2025 at age 94 after a brief illness. He was the husband of the former Mary Weinbaum. He was the father of Michael and Carl, and grandfather of Amanda and Michael.
Mario was born in the Bronx on August 13, 1931 to Vincent and Eleanora Di Martini. Mario was brought up in Bayside by his father and step-mother, Giovanna. An avid baseball player as a boy, Mario kept up a life-long interest in sports and he stayed in touch with many friends from Bayside. He pursued hobbies and interests including stamp collecting and airplane model building. He was an accomplished amateur photographer. He developed and printed photos in a home darkroom, for display and for entry in judged competitions.
A graduate of Bayside High School and Seton Hall University in New Jersey, Mario served briefly in the Army before starting a business career. He was a manufacturing planner and manager in the aerospace industry, and retired from Grumman Aerospace Corporation.
Mario and Mary married in 1958. They moved in 1964 to the Dix Hills home in which they raised their children. After Michael and his wife Minerva had their own family, Mario became the beloved “Papa” to the grandchildren. Mario celebrated the longevity that allowed him to see his children and his grandchildren reach adulthood and embark on their careers. Mario’s survivors include his wife, his sister Eleanor, his sons, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren.
