Harold J. Gilson Jr., 91, of Deerfield Beach, Florida passed away on March 18, 2017. He was born on April 15, 1925 in Brooklyn, New York. Harold was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 68 years, Miep Gilson; and he is survived by his wonderful daughters, Eileen and Yvonne; three loving granddaughters; and five of the best great-grandchildren ever born. Harold was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. He served in WWII with the merchant marines and later became a career tugboat captain and recipient of the Merchant Marine Meritorious Service Medal. He was the national secretary of the American Merchant Marine Veterans. Heaven is a better place with Harold Gilson there, and he will be forever missed on earth. Memorial Service will be Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at 6pm at Kraeer Becker Funeral Home, 217 E Hillsboro Blvd, Deerfield Beach, FL 33441.
