Alice’s employment included working at Pizza Hut for three years, Whataburger for eight years, and Walmart for over 20 years all in customer service. Alice retired from Walmart in 2020.
Alice’s nickname was Memaw. She loved her grandkids and was always happy when family came to visit. Family for her didn’t necessarily mean blood relatives. She enjoyed chasing her grandkids with her walker. She liked making loop loom potholders, reading her scriptures, listening to church music especially the song I am a Child of God, taking care of her plants, playing solitaire, playing with the cat, walking across the street to the grocery store, and watching her shows on Me TV—The Rifleman, Perry Mason, and the Andy Griffith Show.
Alice enjoyed bowling with her husband and son Daniel. She did this Bowling dance before she threw the ball that Mary described as her “wedgie dance” because of the way she jiggled. Alice was proud and quite fond of a pearl that her son John had made into a necklace for her while he was in Hawaii. Alice loved playing Hand and Foot Canasta and always wanted her daughter Mary to play with her. The game would take them about three hours to play. When her kids were young they went camping as a family at Lake Thunderbird. They went swimming and the kids got to run around and be kids.
