Benita Marie Hamblin passed away on January 6, 2022. She was born on September 27, 1956 in Cleveland, Ohio to Herman Frank Vahcic and Frances Jeanette (Banas) Vahcic. She grew up in Cleveland with one sister, Janine, and graduated from Rocky River High School. She married Mark Hamblin on March 13, 1976 in Fairview Park, Ohio. They were together for 38 years until his passing. Together they had two children, Chris and Josh.
Benita was a dedicated Prison Mentor since 1998, and was heavily involved in Eagle Ministries as well as Letters to the Lord Prison Ministry. She was a wonderful listener and support system to countless people that she met through her faith, as well as family and friends. She always had a way of looking past people’s flaws and naturally saw the positives in them. Her passion was investing in people.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Mark Hamblin, and her parents, Herman and Jeanette Vahcic.
She is survived by her two sons, Chris Hamblin (and wife Abbie) and Josh Hamblin (and wife Lauren); grandchildren, Aleeyah, Payton, Mason, Jaxon, and Emilee; sister, Janine Gyurcsik; and a host of other relatives and friends.
