

Betty was born on February 13, 1931, in Oklahoma City, to John Farland and Ruby (Hicks) Buck. Growing up she learned to sew, quilt, and cook among many other things. She sang in church with her mother and sister, and at age 13 her dad gave her a guitar to play in church. Betty worked part-time as the Telephone Operator in Wapanucka, Oklahoma until her marriage to Johnnie Floyd Cottrell on November 15, 1952, in Sulphur, Oklahoma. Betty enjoyed sewing, crocheting, crafts, canning vegetables from the garden, and cooking. She also enjoyed visiting her mother in Muskogee and her sister Dorothy in Ponca City. She adored her brother and spent many hours talking on the phone with her sister Dorothy. In her later years she especially enjoyed visits from her friend, Sandra Hector.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Marsha Andrews and her husband Charlie, Sandra Goode and her husband David; grandchildren Michael White, Michele (White) Chasteen and her husband Jonathan, Eric Hadlock, Kevin Hadlock and Desirae Payton, Nathan Hadlock, and Ashley Goode; great-grandchildren Kylee White, Kaden White, Corey Chasteen, Jace Chasteen, and Briley Hadlock; sister, Ruth Neal, brother Wayne and his wife Suzie Buck, and several nieces and nephews.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie, daughter Darla Smith, great-granddaughter Kennedi, her parents, infant sister, brothers Joyce and Sonny Buck, sister Joy Archer, sister Dorothy Rains, and nephew James Rains.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, Del City, OK. The family would like to thank the staff of 24th Place of Norman for the compassionate care they gave Betty during her stay there.
A graveside service will take place at Sunnylane Cemetery, September 5, 2025, with Rev. Eric Johnson officiating.
