This is the unsung story of a humble man born in Buffalo, Missouri who had the courage of ten thousand men, the voice of a thunderstorm, the patience of a saint, and the courage to fight when all odds were stacked against him. His name held power, it encapsulated the very nature of his person, and it meant “God is my judge.” He was a father, brother, husband, and son.
Danny Kay Ambrose was born on May 5, 1949, and was no stranger to a good margarita. In the early hours of February 1, 2025, he received a call that would set him on a path that the rest of us could not follow. His new destination was one where he could stride confidently, and without pain, to tell all the jokes his heart desired and to ask “Google” to play his favorite songs.
Danny ruled with a firm hand, he laughed without restraint and sang country music with a fervor and genuine love for the genre that resonated in his very soul. His nimble fingers could pluck the chords of a bass guitar, tap the notes of a song on his keyboard, and in the same breath tell you to “talk to the hand” when you pulled any sass. He loved fiercely and fought courageously.
Those who knew Danny will remember him for the love he had for his family, his unhealthy relationship with chocolate, and his uncanny way of professing his undying love for Melissa McCarthy. While he may no longer be here to share a new song or get a music session together with his long-time friends, he will forever be in our hearts, our memories, and our shared laughs. Let us cherish the time we had with him, and celebrate a life well lived.
Danny is survived by his loving wife, Jamie Ambrose; daughter Angela Olguin and husband Eddie Olguin; daughter Pamela Hester; daughter Ashley Kalivoda and husband Brandon Kalivoda; daughter Roberta Segura; daughter Natassia Milam and husband Tim Milam; grandchildren, Danielle Trujillo, Jordan Trujillo, Chris Olguin, Shawn Olguin, Amanda Hester, Soda Hester, Sage Hester, Jermin Segura, Jathin Segura, and “Handsome” Henry Milam; nephews Lee Ambrose, Jerry Chambers, and Bobby Chambers; sister Donna Baker and husband Bill Baker; and nieces Dawn Moore and Diana Igleheart.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents Margaret and Robert Eddy; brother Denny Ambrose; niece Shawna Witte; and sister Diane Chambers.
