Gene was born October 4, 1923 in Oklahoma City to James and Ruth Fletcher. Gene loved baseball, bowling, and hunting. He raised Brittany Spaniels but his favorite bird dog was a pointer named “Sport”. By trade, Gene was a bricklayer. He bricked the Bill Eisenhour Southeast Funeral Home.
He is survived by Eloise of the home; two sons: Jim Fletcher and wife Cynthia, and Gene Fletcher, Jr.; daughter Shirley Shoemake; step-children Linda McCaslin, Gary
Streiner, and Larry Streiner; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and sister Mittie Dodson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Mary Jo Garner
Fletcher; daughter Mary Ann Edwards-Canter; brother James Fletcher; sister Audie Henry; grandson Michael Fletcher; and step-son Robert Streiner.
