James Virgil Howell, Jr. born June 10, 1927 in Meeker, Oklahoma to James Virgil, Sr. and Edna Mae Harrell Taft Howell. He is survived by his son James A. Howell of Norman, Oklahoma and daughter Janice E. Norris of Midwest City, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Marita Swafford and husband Bo, Kristopher Norris and wife Caitlin, and Amy Norris; seven great-grandchildren, Nikki, Arianne, Jaxon, Emily, Emmett, Elijah, and Keaton; three great-great-grandchildren, Bella, Lillie, and John Wesley IV; three nephews Eugene Taft and wife Mary, Butch Shafer and wife Lori, and Alan Boland and wife Sherry; three nieces, Linda Blockinger and husband Ed, Royce Ann Martin and husband Jerry, Shirley Rustad and husband Rick.
James was a WWII veteran serving two years in the U.S. Army. After his discharge he held numerous jobs in mechanics, journeyman, electrician, and maintenance.
James enjoyed singing and entertaining in nursing homes and retirement centers. He also enjoyed woodworking at home and while traveling in RV.
James passed from this life into eternity on August 21, 2021 at the age of 94 years, 2 months, and 11 days.
