Born on August 20, 1948, in Cushing, Oklahoma, James was the beloved son of Robbie and Jack Howerton. James was the recipient of 3 Purple Heart's and 2 Bronze Star's and served 2 tours in the Vietnam War, he served his country with honor and dedication during the Vietnam War.
James is survived by his sister Kelley Taylor, his children Lisa Peck, Jeffrey Howerton and Whitney Howerton. His grandchildren Cherish Harris, and Courtney Davis, and four great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robbie and Jack Howerton; his sister, Terry Gardner; and his brother, Mike Howerton.
James will be remembered as a man of quiet strength and deep integrity. His steady presence brought comfort to those around him, and his legacy of strength will live on through the many generations to come .
Funeral services will be held at 2pm on April 9, 2026 at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home located at 4000 SE 29th, Del City, Oklahoma with graveside services to follow at Arlington Memorial Gardens 3400 N Midwest Blvd, Oklahoma City.
