

She graduated from Stilwell High School in 1957. While in high school she played a clarinet in the band and was a cheerleader. She was a member of the school newspaper staff, Future Teachers of America and Future Homemakers of America.
She earned her teaching degree from Northeastern State College (now Northeastern State University) in 1960. She began teaching in Tulsa that fall and married Bill on October 8, 1960. After completing her first year of teaching in Tulsa, she moved to Midwest City with Bill and taught the next 30 years in the Mid-Del School System. She taught at Townsend Elementary for 12 years, Barnes Elementary for 8 years, and Cleveland Bailey Elementary for her last 10 years before retiring. She was honored as Mid-Del Teacher of the Year in 1988 and retired in 1991. Because of her great love of children and teaching, she was a substitute teacher for 10 years after retirement. Jeannie was a lifetime member of the Parent Teacher Association and had been a member of various other educational organizations.
Jeannie dedicated her life to the Lord as a teenager in Stilwell, OK and had been a faithful member of Del City Church of Christ since 1963. During the years, Jeannie organized many of the church-wide Christmas parties, worked in the church nursery for many years, helped with VBS, taught bible classes for various ages, was in charge of the church pictorial directory for several years, hosted parties in her home for church members and other friends, and also hosted missionary families in her home while they were visiting the church.
Because of Bill’s love of sports and especially OU football, Bill and Jeannie attended all OU home football games, many away games, and several bowl games. They were at the Orange Bowl the year OU won the National Championship in 2000.
Jeannie is survived by her husband of nearly 53 years, Billy Joe Ketcher, two sons, Dr. Greg Ketcher and wife Kim of Lawton, Oklahoma, Keith Ketcher and wife Gina of Sacramento, California, one daughter, Gina Landers and husband Greg of Edmond, Oklahoma, 7 grandchildren, Brian Ketcher and wife Megan, Jace McLeod, Clayton Ketcher, Sam Ketcher, Kierston Anderson and husband Graham, Cody Landers, and Macy Landers, and 2 great grandchildren Peyton Bolt and Alexander Ketcher. She is also survived by her brother, Roger Hatfield and his wife Wanda, a niece Tasha Privett, her husband Mike and their children Kinley and Jarvis. She was preceded in death by her parents A.N. “Knox” & Ruby Hatfield and by a grandson Cole Gregory Landers.
Jeannie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, teacher & friend and will be missed by all who knew her. She loved her children and was proud of all their accomplishments.
Services will be October 5, 2013 at 10:00am at Del City Church of Christ. Interment will be at Arlington Memorial Gardens immediately following the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Children’s Ministry at Del City Church of Christ.
