Joe Thomas Barton, 88, passed away on April 18, 2015 in the Legend at Rivendell Assisted Living in Oklahoma City, OK. He was born on March 19, 1927 in Shawnee, OK to Malton W. and Anna Elizabeth (Morton) Barton.
Joe attended Shawnee public schools, but later in life graduated from Central High School. After proudly serving his country in the U.S. Navy he spent most of his life as a Welder and retired from OneOK, formerly Oklahoma Natural Gas Company. He loved bowling, and alongside his wife, the two enjoyed remodeling houses and selling them.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife, Peggy Jo Barton; son, Jay Keith Barton; siblings, Bill Barton, Helen Chouteau, and Luese Defibaugh. Survivors include his daughter, Karen L. Janbaz and husband Reza; daughter-in-law, Diana Barton; grandchildren, Lauren Janbaz, Ryan Janbaz and wife Kira, Scott Barton; great-granddaughter, Addison C. Janbaz; sister, Betty Lane, and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 23, 2015 at the Bill Eisenhour Southeast Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunny Lane Cemetery. Condolences may be offered at www.eisenhourfuneral.com
