

Joy Belle Alexander passed away March 2, 2016 in Oklahoma City, OK. She was born on January 1, 1933 in Konawa, OK to Newton Lee Herrin and Ruby (Nash) Herrin. She married James Maurice Alexander, Jr. in Ada, OK on June 6, 1949. While her children were at home, her job was homemaker and mother. After her children left home she worked as a nursery worker at her church day care, helped her husband in the family business (Alexander’s Shoe Repair) and then she worked for Nuway Cleaners for many years.
Joy is survived by her son: Jim Alexander and wife Faye of Eufaula, OK; daughter: Carol and husband Greg Gammon of Moore, OK; grandchildren: Kristi and husband Geoff Parker, Stephen Gammon, Chrissy and husband Brian Boydstun, as well as 5 great grandchildren, and 1 sister: Andi Smith of Oklahoma City, OK. She is preceded in death by both her parents,her brother, Newton Scott Herrin, her husband and granddaughter Shelley.
Joy’s favorite pass times were being with her grandchildren and doing volunteer work at her church.
Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM Thursday at Bill Eisenhour Southeast Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, March 5, 2016 at First Southern Baptist Church with interment at Sunny Lane Cemetery.
