She was the 5th of 6 children born to Ray and Gladys Sain. She spent her early childhood on the family farm in Atoka, playing and making memories with 2 of her sisters, Donna Sue and Liz. They were like the three musketeers. Mom attended Capitol Hill High School. During this time she met lifelong friends Judy Jordan and Frances Dumont.
Mom married Bobby Todd in 1959 of which four children were born. We didn’t have much growing up in Del City, but mom did the best she could. She’d buy 10 hot dogs for $1 ($1 was a lot to us back then!), pop some popcorn and put it in a big paper grocery bag, made some kool-aid and take us kids to the drive-in movie. Pop some popcorn and drive us around to look at Christmas Lights.
Mom become a born-again Christian in 1969. She made sure she took us kids to church so we would come to know Jesus. She was no longer able to attend church services but watched and sang along with services from Southwest Baptist Church of which she was a member.
Mom began her civil service career at Tinker Air Force Base working in the Billeting Office before moving to San Antonio then to Waco. Upon her return to Oklahoma she continued her civil service career as an accountant in A/P for the Oklahoma Army National Guard, from where she retired.
Mom loved sports. Mainly OU football (but any good college game- football or basketball). Also the Oklahoma City Thunder, Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Rangers.
Due to her health, mom moved in with me/Carol Sue in February 2023. We enjoyed watching sports, The Wheel of Fortune and other shows. She loved having her kids, grandkids & great grand-kids visit her and text/send pictures.
Mom lived a colorful life and had some stories she could tell! How we’d give anything to hear her voice.
We rejoice in knowing that our mom is in heaven with her 2 infant baby boys, her granddaughter, Ashley Todd and all her loved ones that went before her.
Per mom's request there will be no funeral. We will have a graveside service at Sunny Lane Cemetery on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 1:00pm.
In lieu of flowers please feel free to donate to mom’s church Southwest Baptist Church, St. Jude’s or the charity of your choice, in honor of her.
What a blessing it is that she left this world on her terms, at home, peacefully in her sleep, just as she wanted.
Get everything ready, mom! We will see you when we get there.
