Juney Lee Patterson, a veteran of World War II and longtime resident of Del City, was called to his heavenly home, at the age of 98, on May 21, 2022. Sarge, as he was known to many in the area, was born May 15, 1924, in Checotah, OK, to Florence (Hatley) and Oscar Patterson. Sarge enlisted into the United States Air Force in 1942. As a Master Sergeant in the US Air Force, Juney saw action in Europe as a radio operator for the 746th Bombardment Squadron flying on a B-24. Juney had many amazing stories of his time serving in Europe during World War II. The US Air Force recognized Juney for his honorable service with an Air Force Commendation Medal. After 20 years of honorable service, Juney retired from the US Air Force on December 31, 1962. During his enlistment, Juney married Patsy Jo Karr on July 9, 1951 in Van Buren, AR.
After his military career, Juney found work in the beer industry where he remained until he retired as the Vice President of Sales at Bryson, Inc. He was a loving and devoted father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend. Juney was an active member in many organizations such as Sunnylane Southern Baptist Church and the India Shriners. Juney was well known in his community and frequently extended a helping hand to any neighbor or friend in need.
Juney is survived by his daughters, Debra Park (Beau), Dana Gordon (Robert); granddaughters, Mika Eliosa Renteria (Erick), Dr. Sarah Gordon Murray (Tommy), Amy Gordon; great-grandchildren, Parker and Brin Hague, Brayden and Braelyn Murray; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Patsy; sisters, Pauline Hart, Jewell Phillips, and Louise Patterson; brothers, Floyd and Bobby Patterson.
