Ken spent his early years in Texas. He loved sports of all kinds, but excelled at football and was often called upon to play in both offensive and defensive positions because of his natural ability. Upon graduating high school, he moved to Del City, Oklahoma to follow in his mother’s footsteps in becoming a licensed plant nurseryman. He spent over 20 years in that profession. Ken dedicated years of service to TLC nursery, providing many homes with remarkable poinsettias during the Christmas season, believed to be his Favorite time of the year. He shared a natural talent for decorating with his mother, and a passion for great displays of lights and all thing fantastic for Christmas and Halloween with his best friend Trish. And it was no surprise to anyone that he also fell in love with all things related to dog showing/handling.
Ken enjoyed over 30 years in the dog show world. He held the positions of Editor of E-Express, Board Member, Website committee member, and Roving Chairman for the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America. He was also a member of the Chihuahua Clubs of Dallas and Greater Houston, the Yorkshire Terrier Clubs of Greater Kansas and Oklahoma (Pres.), the Oklahoma City Toy Club and the Silky Terrier Club of Central Florida. He supported shows holding positions as a favorite auctioneer, ring steward for the Dallas Ring Steward Association and was a member of the Southern Handlers Association. Ken brought many of his own dogs, as well as handling for others through the ranks to obtain their Championship status. Along the way, he made numerous friends and contacts through his tireless willingness to help anyone with whatever assistance they needed, and always with a smile.
Ken is survived by his parents, Ken and Judy Lambert, brother Monty and Laura Lambert, sister Michele and Randy Briggs, niece Taylor and Carston Cravey, nephew Trevor and Mattie Lambert, nephew Christopher Briggs and many extended family members. He also leaves behind to cherish his memory his adopted family, Trish and William Kulessa, Kathy and Miguel Beltran, Michelle Geist, Jessica Judkins and Melvin Lugrand, Brinley and Camden Lugrand, Andrea Kulessa and Shawn Ponds.
Ken had a heart of gold. Always willing to lend a helping hand, displaying an amazing work ethic, and offering kind words and congratulations to many. He was a beloved son, brother, uncle (au key), best friend and will be missed beyond words by so many.
Due to current circumstances, the family has chosen to honor Ken’s wishes and not host a memorial service at this time. A Celebration of Life service will be hosted at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Ken requested that any donations be made to the American Cancer Society, Free to Live Animal Sanctuary, or a Children’s Hospital.
Our family would like to thank the multitudes of people who have prayed and expressed love and concern during this tragic time and we would like to say, “For now, our beloved Ken, we do not say goodbye, but until we meet again…”
