Lisa was born on March 30, 1961, in Chickasha Oklahoma. She was one of five daughters to Donnie Ray and Frances Marie Bomesberger. She married Richard Woods in 1978 and had two boys, Travis Don and Robert Lee. She later married Matt Newell in 1983 and had a daughter Nicole Michelle. The love and support she offered to her children through the years was unlimited. During good and tough times, she always guided them in the right direction and offered them unending love and support even when they veered down a different path. She worked at Lucent Technologies for 18 years along side her mother where she then met her true love, Ron Gentry, in 1996. The first time he came to pick her up for a date Travis yelled “there’s a cop at the door” and she replies, “nope that’s just my date.” After dating for a while Ron took her on her first plane ride to South Padre Island. While in the air a lightening storm had scared her so much, she climbed over him away from the window seat and told him “If it hits the plane at least it will hit you first.” Little did he know, he had created a beach- and cruise ship-loving woman. They went on to marry in Reno, Nevada on May 21st, 1999. From there they built a life and a house in Bridge Creek, Oklahoma. Lisa had her dream home exactly the way she wanted it. From the floor plan she designed herself to the many wall color changes that turned Ron into a professional painter. Lisa took much pride in their home. Their first grandchild, Ryan Thomas, arrived in November of 2000 and he became the light of their life and a newfound love of becoming grandparents. Later arrived Katelynn Marie in November of 2004, Valerie Shay and Victoria Lynn in November of 2009 and then along came Blake Daniel and Violet Michelle in April of 2014. In December of 2021 they welcomed their first great grandchild, Cash Logan Joseph. Cash loved having two grandmas (in his words). Lisa and Ron took their kids and grandkids on vacation after vacation, and can you guess where? The beach. She and Ron loved to travel to all parts of Mexico and take cruises through the Caribbean. Lisa was employed with TSA from 2002 to 2024. While working her way up she became the training manager for the entire state of Oklahoma. After retirement they continued to travel even more. After the passing of her parents, she became the matriarch of the family. She hosted many, many holidays, but her favorite was 4th of July. Every year she would light up when she would see her kids, grandkids, sisters, nieces, and nephews swimming, fishing in the pond and putting on a firework display throughout the day and night. She welcomed many friends as family, and everyone was welcome to the party.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Francis Bomesberger, her eldest son Travis Woods, her youngest grandson Blake Howard, her sisters Sherri Foster and Kim Bomesberger, as well as her nephew Travis Renfro Jr.
She is survived by her husband Ron Gentry of Blanchard, Oklahoma, son Robert Woods of Aurora, Colorado, daughter Nicole and her husband Derek Howard of Bethany, Oklahoma, grandson Ryan Martin, granddaughters Katelynn Martin, Valerie, Victoria and Violet Howard, great grandson Cash Martin, sisters Cindy Ramsey and Dawn Bomesberger as well as her brother and law Mike Foster, many nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces and a bonus daughter, Erin Shanahan.
A memorial service will be held at 3pm Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home at Sunny Lane Cemetery, located at 4000 Southeast 29th Street, Del City, Oklahoma, 73115.
