Loretta Foster of Oklahoma City died Monday, March 17, 2025, at Baptist Hospital. She was born on July 21, 1933, to Edna Mae Coker and D. M. Brown in Seminole, Oklahoma. Loretta attended Pleasant Grove School in Seminole.
She got married in 1952 and had three children - daughter Johnnie Kay, and sons Stephen Glenn and Joseph Lynn Goat.
She worked as a waitress and restaurant manager for a popular Italian restaurant in Oklahoma City for several years. She later became an office manager and medical assistant for three surgeons also in Oklahoma City.
In 1996 Loretta remarried Andrew Foster. They were high school classmates who got reunited through church. It was a brief marriage due to health reasons. It was a time when Loretta was cared for and had an opportunity to travel some. They also celebrated their culture through pow wows.
Loretta was an avid caretaker. She was the neighborhood mom for all the kids on the block while her kids were young. Later in life she helped care for her mother, brother and sister who had health issues. She loved to have a nice yard and when she was able, she would mow her own lawn. In fact, she has been known to be out quickly mowing with the electric lawn mower while lightning was flashing in the background.
She loved going to church and doing church activities. She has helped make Indian tacos and grape dumplings. She’s helped with wild onion dinners, taught Sunday school, and loved reading her Bible in the evening.
Loretta is survived by daughter Johnnie Kay Keel and husband David; sons Stephen Glenn Goat and Joseph Lynn Goat; grandchildren Lori Newmark and husband Todd Maycumber, Kimberly Winkle, Shane Holman and wife Blair, and Hunter Goat. She is survived by four great grandchildren: Harrison and Carson Newmark and Nevaeh and Baker Holman and her sweet dog, Chumbie.
