Lowell E. Smith

Lowell E. Smith was born January 7, 1922 in Rush Springs, OK to Virgie & Blake Smith. Lowell died on September 15, 2017 at the age of 95. Lowell enlisted in the Navy 1942, served 1943-1945 in the Pacific. Received the Navy Unit Commendation Award Fighting Squadron. Six USS Hancock, Navy Presidential Unit Citation, 63 MOL (BRE12LCS) Good Conduct Medals, American Area Campaign Medals, Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal with 3 bronze stars, World War II Victory Medal, Navy Occupation Medal with Asia Clasp, AFSLR w/2 BR OLC Philippines Liberation Ribbon 1 bronze star. He was discharged from Navy 1945. Enlisted in Air Force 1950. Served in many countries, Hawaii, Germany, Japan, Italy, Frances, Belgium, Pakistan, Greece, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Iran, Lebanon, Guam, Philippines, Alaska, and state side. Retired from Air Force 1968 at Perrin Field Dennison, TX. Worked FAA 15 years retired a second time, went to work for the State of Oklahoma. Retired at age 80. In his spare time served on St. Anthony Foundation Board was Volunteer League President and volunteered for 10 years. Served on Church Council 10 years. He loved life and he dearly loved his wife Dorothy. Together they spent many happy hours fishing and making new friends. Lowell was preceded in death by his parents, 2 daughters, Debbie G. Smith Lynch and Susan K. Smith. He leaves behind his wife, Dorothy; sons, Randy S., Scott E. and wife April, Wayne A.; grandchildren, Ryan Smith of Enid, OK, April Smith of Enid, OK, Nicholas Smith, Air Force, Nathan Smith of San Antonio, TX; great grandchildren, Justin, Jacob, Jeramiah, Jay, and Addison, and a host of relatives and friends. Arrangements under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, Del City, Oklahoma.
