To his family, Matt was known as “Little Matt” and/or “Huggie Bear”.
The love he shared with his huge families was unmatched; spending much of his childhood with aunts, uncles, and his cousins from both sides.
Matt’s education was highly diverse.
He attended a “head-start” program in Waukomis at the age of 4 or 5 and then moving to Moore during his elementary years.
He spent his junior high years in OKC at Hefner Middle School.
And in 1994, he graduated from Dover High School.
Soon after graduation, Matt went out to explore the world, landing himself in San Francisco.
While making a living, he soon found himself enrolled in The Art Institute of California.
It was there that he discovered his talent in free-hand drawing and his love for the art world bloomed.
His art speaks for itself.
In the latter 2000’s, back in Oklahoma, Matt obtained an associate’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Central Oklahoma and then finalized his education in 2016 with another degree upon completion of culinary classes at Platt College in Moore.
He mastered the art of cooking and food became his love language.
There wasn’t anything he couldn’t cook and lots of times it was too pretty to eat!!
Matt was extremely charismatic.
He loved life and was always down for a good time.
He was the most artistic person, ever, and loved nothing more than to create.
There wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix, always tinkering with something.
There wasn’t much he couldn’t do, either.
His knowledge was unbound. Always learning. Always wanting more. And never giving up until he figured it out.
Matt left our world on the morning of February 9, 2024, peacefully, in his mother’s home in Norman, Oklahoma.
Matt raised two beautiful children, Brylea Alaya and Kaison Matthew; and the apple of his eye was his granddaughter, Kaiah Bear.
He also leaves behind two brothers, Justin and Bill; his sister, Ashley; his son-in-law, Jaime; a niece Amaya, and a nephew, Wyatt; and numerous aunts and uncles and too many cousins to name, along with a plethora of friends, far and wide.
From birth, his mother doted over him and his father was his biggest fan during his 48 years of life.
Matt’s love was BIG and his physical presence will be missed, immensely.
A funeral service for Matthew will be held Friday, February 16, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, 5005 SE 29th Street, Del City, OK 73115. Following the funeral service will be a committal service from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Rogers Cemetery, N. 2190 Rd. & US Hwy. 62, Mountain Park, OK 73559.
