Mattie Lee Bromley entered her final rest on September 1, 2011 in Midwest City , OK after a lengthy illness. She was born to her parents, Charles Elbert and Ira Bell (Thomas) Simpson, On May 2, 1922 at Elmore City , Oklahoma . Mattie Lee excelled in school and graduated at the age of 16 from Poughkeepsie High School in Arkansas . During World War II, she worked at the Douglas Aircraft plant in Midwest City . On November 30, 1946 she married Kelly Bromley, her loving husband for over 30 years. After his death, she lived in Arkansas and Virginia before returning to Midwest City
Mattie Lee was preceded in death by her husband, Kelly, her parents and seven of her brothers and sisters. She is survived by her son, Gerald Bromley and wife Linda of Del City, OK; her daughter Patricia Hastings of San Antonio, TX; grandson Gerald Bromley, Jr. and wife Lora; grandson, Blake Hastings and wife, Jimena; three great-grandsons, Gerald Bromley III, Kelly Bromley, and Sebastian Hastings; Brother, W.C. Simpson of Billings MO and Sister, Jean Walker of Dallas, TX. She also leaves 18 nieces and nephews and scores of cousins who pray that she has found peace with the Lord.
She was a Christian and was baptized in the Missionary Baptist Church , Poughkeepsie , AR at the age of 19.
Graveside Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Sunny Lane Cemetery . In lieu of flowers, donations to be made St. Jude’s.
