

Omaha Margie Cousins (Oma) born to James Harrison and Carrie Jean Dial on November 23, 1911 in White County, Arkansas. She died peacefully at her home of 77 years on June 8, 2014. Oma was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; sisters, Naomi, Donnie Mae, and Ruth; children, Bill, Tommy, and Jean. She is survived by her sister, Juanita; daughter, Pat; six, grandchildren, Linda, Jerry, Thomas, Ginna, Carol, John; numerous, great, and great-great-grandchildren, and lastly and dog, Rusty. Oma’s parent’s were share croppers and her father was also a minister. She moved to McAlester, OK in her early teens by train her family by horse and buggy, but mostly walked. Oma married at age 18 to Henry W. Cousins on June 1, 1930 then moved to Oklahoma City where he worked for ITIO and worked on the famous oil well Wild Mary Sudik. They helped raise approximately 35 foster children from 1945 -1965. She was an original devoted member of the Lighthouse Tabernacle for 75 years, where she taught Sunday School for 75 years. Oma was devoted to reading her Bible and praying every day. She loved her family, garden, home and church. She will always be remembered for her loving, kind, gentle spirit by all who met and knew her. She had a generous soul with a warm smile and tender touch. Her mission was to serve others, she had a warm heart and an open door. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at the Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home with interment to follow at Sunny Lane Cemetery.
