

Panatha Sue Wall, “Big Red”, of Del City, OK, was born August 8, 1934, to Willie M. and Lola May (Gibson) DeHart in Boswell, OK. She went to be with her Lord on January 16, 2022. Sue graduated from Capitol Hill High School at the age of 17 and had to wait till she turned 18 in August to join the Army. She went to basic training at Ft. Lee at Petersburg, Virginia. After that, she went to a clerk typist school at Ft. Dix, New Jersey. She was able to spend free time in New York City seeing Broadway shows, the Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall, and TV shows with stars such as Perry Como, Jayne Meadows, and Steve Allen.
After finishing clerk typist school, Sue was sent to Ft. Myer, Virginia, and worked as a keypunch operator in the Pentagon. One night for fun, Sue and some friends went to see Hank Snow at the Municipal Auditorium. The second act that evening was a nice looking young man unknown to them at the time in a bright red suit. It was Elvis Presley, who soon after became a household name. Sue also had the privilege to meet General Omar Bradley during her time in the Army.
Sue came home to Oklahoma and continued her career as a keypunch operator at Tinker Air Force Base. She and her friends enjoyed skating and would frequent the rink two to three times a week where she met the love of her life, John David Wall. They were married on July 24, 1959, and spent 51 wonderful years together.
Sue always put God first. She had been a longtime member at Abundant Life and First Assembly of God Churches. In her later years, she was a member of the Del City Nazarene Church.
Sue enjoyed watching game shows and playing board games. Scrabble was her favorite. Most of all, she loved spending time with her friends and family. They often would get together and clip coupons and go shopping to find the best bargains.
Sue will be deeply missed. She is survived by her two sons: Drew, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, his two children Erica Nicole and Dylan Warren, and their mother Ginger Wall of New Braunfels, Texas; Brian and wife, Melinda Wall of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Sue’s brother-in-law John Reese and his children: Robin and husband Chuck Vaughn, and their children and grandchildren; Misty and husband Keenan Hill, and their children and grandchildren; Melody and husband Ronnie James, and their children and grandchildren; Sue’s nephews Stephen and wife, Marjory Lynn Abbitt, and their children and grandchildren; and Gregory and wife, Vicki Abbitt, and their daughter Kelly; and countless other relatives and friends. She also left behind numerous in-laws in Georgia and Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents ; sisters, Vivian Lee Abbitt, Dorothy Jo DeHart, Marilyn Kay Reese, Kathyrn Bonner; brothers Richard and his wife, Tachino Gibson; Jim Gibson; her niece, Angela Abbitt.
A memorial service will be at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home in Del City at 2:00 p.m. on January 29, 2022. Interment of ashes will be immediately following at Sunny Lane Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association.
