Patti was born on September 1st, 1953 in Oklahoma City to the proud parents of Dorma Jean Gibson and Dale Standridge. One of five children, Patti learned early in life how to care for others.
In every role she played: coworker, supervisor, sister, daughter, mother, aunt, friend, she was never ceasing in her ability to care for and serve others. She worked in many hospitals and nursing homes in Oklahoma City and Enid. At one point she even quit her job and moved back home to care for her mother when she needed help after cancer treatment. She worked most recently at Re-Con Company in their front office were she was loved and respected.
Patti was generous and kind, always willing to give more than anyone could imagine asking, and never expecting anything in return. She also managed to become quite the entertainer. When Patti was around, you may as well just turn off the TV or the radio, because Patti was going to interrupt whatever you were doing and tell you a story. But it was worth it! She told the best stories! And her laugh! If she was laughing, you couldn’t help but laugh too. Patti was fun. She loved to play. She enjoyed her time on the Gulf coast most of all. If she were here now, she’d probably be planning her next trip down to the beach with her brother, Jimmy. She also loved children, and they loved her. She was always willing to get down on their level and really play.
Patti loved a good book. If she had free time, you would probably find her reading curled up with a good book on her Kindle. If the weather were nice, you’d often find her walking to the library near her house to check out a new stack of books.
Patti is survived by her son, Christopher Clark, her brothers James Standridge, and Randell Dewbre, her sister Darcelle Dewbre, her niece Amanda Christian, and hundreds of friends all over the US and overseas. She was preceded in death by her sister Deena Dewbre and her mother, Dorma Gibson.
We can find comfort knowing Patti lived a life full of love and happiness until the very end. She did what she wanted and didn’t have a problem speaking her mind. She lived every day like it was her last, and I know she left this earth a happy woman with a good book at her fingertips, and thoughts of her next big beach vacation on the horizon.
Patti never did like being the center of attention, so per her wishes, there will not be a funeral service. Instead, family will have a private gathering. Since she loved the ocean, her ashes will be spread in the Gulf at a later date.
