Pauline was born January 30, 1934, in Bridgeport, OK to Hinton Clark Baker and Mary Elleanor (Nellie) Welch Baker, the first of 16 children.
Pauline left Butler High School in March 1952 to marry Edward Otis Martin and moved to Great Falls, Montana where Ed was stationed in the US Airforce. Pauline attempted to finish her senior year but quit after being “hit on” by too many boys. Pauline earned her GED after her children graduated high school. This allowed her to receive extensive training and earn certifications and accolades in the medical field. She was employed by Hillcrest Osteopathic Hospital for over 25 years where she worked with serval doctors as Treatment Nurse and Special Projects. Pauline worked until she was 80 years old, providing “Home Health Care”.
Pauline traveled with her husband Ed wherever his Airforce duties took them, with fond memories during their tour at Hahn AFB Germany. In 1970 when Ed retired from the Airforce, they settled in Del City where they lived until Ed’s death January 10, 1990. Pauline continued to live at the same location for a total of 48 years. Pauline seldom lived alone. Her home was shared with her children, grandchildren, siblings, and other family and friends needing a place to stay for a short time.
Pauline loved to listen to Christian and Country music, even better if they were combined.
Pauline enjoyed square dancing. In her younger years even square danced on horses. Pauline talked about plowing the fields walking behind mules. When it was quitting time, the mules would make a “bee line” for the barn, regardless of what Pauline was supposed to do.
Pauline loved her family and loved spending time with them. It didn’t matter if it was fishing, camping, boating, or just visiting, if it included family, she was happy. Pauline enjoyed watching her children, then grandchildren, and finally her great-grandchildren in their various sport games. Pauline even sewed gymnastics outfits for her granddaughters’ teams. While Paulines daughters were growing up all their dresses were made by Pauline. She was also known to make her boys some shirts.
Pauline was always a caring lady. While Pauline’s daughter was stationed in Guam, she was treated by a doctor who fondly remembered Pauline and her famous cinnamon rolls she baked for the doctor’s graduating class at Hillcrest Hospital.
Pauline is survived by her devoted children: Tricia Morgan (Wayne) of Elizabethton, TN, Ernie Martin (Sue) of Norman, Sherie Ewert (Pete) of Midwest City, Gene Martin (Rachel) of Mustang.
Pauline had 11 grandchildren, 24 great- grandchildren, and 2 great-great- grandchildren.
Of Paulines 15 siblings, she is survived by Evelyn Upchurch of Yukon, Lucy Kelley of Weatherford, Rex Baker (Ginger) of Butler, Danny Mike (Sharon) of Elk City, and Vera Kay Stout (Keith) of Tuttle.
Additionally, she is survived by her sister-in-law Annie Alice Ward of Ringling and her brother-in-law Eugene Martin (Freda) of Searcy, AR.
Pauline’s generous loving spirit will be missed by all who know her.
