He attended and graduated high school at Seminole and pursued and later graduated with his teaching degree from OU. Duane taught school at Seminole and coached football, basketball and had a summer baseball team and later became principal at Seminole High School. When he left Seminole, he moved to Midwest City, and it was here that he finished his love of educating students and retired. In 2004, Duane was inducted to the Seminole High School Alumni Hall of Fame for football. He loved traveling and being with his friends, especially his coffee buddies at Burger King.
Duane is preceded in death by his parents; Survivors include his sister, Shirley Mattiza of Texas; nephews, Mark Mattiza and family of Texas, Monte Mattiza of Texas and Van Mattiza and family of California. Duane wanted all the cousins, and the many good friends he had remember all the fun times, good and happy memories they had together. Everyone that knew Duane, knows that he was a very private person, and he strongly requested no funeral service. We are granting him this final request. He loved each and every one of us and will be dearly missed by everyone that knew him.
The family wants to thank Midwest City Hospital and Hospice Quality Care for taking such great care of Duane. To remember Duane, the family has requested that any donations be made in Duane’s name to Bel-Childers Foundations Hospice Quality Care, 921 S. Sooner Rd., Midwest City, Oklahoma 73110-2041. Like OU football, if the Lord doesn’t get him, He missed a good one! Condolences may be offered at www.eisenhourfuneral.com
