It is with great sadness that the family of Robert Evans Wall of Del City, Oklahoma, share his passing on February 14, 2025. Bob lost his two-year battle with cancer at age 90, after beating three prior cancers. He was a true warrior until the very end. Bob was born on January 9, 1935, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, to George and Lucille Wall who preceded him in death.
Due to the times and discouragement of interracial marriage, Bob married Yoko Kato, his Japanese bride and love of his life, in three separate but necessary ceremonies. At the American Embassy, the Catholic Church, and the Japanese Embassy, with the union in the church on October 19, 1957, being their wedding day of celebration.
Bob’s most passionate career began in 1956 in the U.S. Air Force with extensive training in communications. His military career took him to many places including Wyoming, Japan (twice), Alaska, New Mexico, California (twice), Hawaii, Oklahoma, Nebraska, and back to Oklahoma for retirement in 1976 as a Tech Sergeant after 20 proud years of service. He then began his career with the U.S. Postal Service as a letter carrier, and again retired after another 20 years of service. Bob continued to work at the Base Exchange on Tinker AFB with Yoko for several more years.
Bob had many interests and hobbies. He was an avid collector of anything and everything that had to do with John Wayne. When given a line from any John Wayne movie, Bob could tell you not only the name of that movie, but also the main characters and the storyline. Google had nothing on him! He was also a huge OU Sooner football fan, and enjoyed his country music, TV game shows like “The Price is Right”, bowling, golf, softball and manned their neighborhood watch. Bob loved each and every single one of their many pets. Some of his advice was to always respect your mother and father, treat others as you would have them treat you, and love one another. He fought and beat so many health problems throughout his life as an eternal optimist. As one saying goes, “Behind every strong man is an even stronger woman”. Yoko has been that woman by his side caring and helping him through every struggle.
Bob is survived by his one and only true love, Yoko. His children Bob Jr., Patricia and husband Jeff Stewart, Susan and husband Jeff Williams. Grandchildren: Che McCool and Terasia, Chance and Taylor McCool, Jade and Brian Watts, Kayla Williams, Lars Williams, Alyssa Dye, Melanie Glasgow. Step grandchildren: Sydney and Arthur Gonzales, and Jason Stewart. Great grandchildren: Hank Watts, Mickey and Olive McCool, Dawson Dye, Ramsey Glasgow, Sam, Penny, and Milly Gonzales. Bob is also survived by his sister Gloria and her husband John Clauser of South Dakota along with their three children and their extended families. Bob will always, always be a lasting part of his family’s lives. We all miss him very much and love him deeply. As he would always say, “I love you more!”
