April 5, 1944 - September 4, 2024
Steven Leroy Zeigler (also known as Walking Bear), passed away on September 4, 2024 at the age of 80. Born on April 5, 1944 in Kansas City, Missouri. Steven was a talented baker and silversmith who specialized in Native American jewelry. Throughout his life, Steven created countless pieces of art and jewelry, leaving a mark on many with his craftsmanship and innovations. Known by his family for his exceptional baking, his donuts and pastries were some of the most delicious treats ever made.
Steven was preceded in death by his father, Arther Zeigler, his mother Goldie Zeigler and brothers, Terry Zeigler, and Bud Zeigler. He is survived by his loving daughter, Stephanie A. Villarreal; granddaughter, Lezley R. Villarreal-Joy; and grandson, Aaron C. Joy.
A passionate creator, Steven loved crafting jewelry and many other arts, working with silver, fishing, going to the movies, football, taking long drives, and, most importantly, spending time with his family, friends, and beloved pets. He was a kid at heart, with a stubborn streak, yet he was deeply compassionate and cared for all those around him.
As we remember, Steven, let us be comforted by these words:
"When you were born, you cried, and the world rejoiced. Live your life so that when you die, the world cries, and you rejoice."
Steven will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
A graveside service for Steven will be held Friday, September 13, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Sunny Lane Funeral Home & Cemetery, 4000 SE 29th St, Del City, OK 73115.
