Trina B. Burton, age 72 of Del City, Oklahoma, surrounded by her family and fur babies, passed away on Friday, August 18, 2023.Trina was born on April 23, 1951, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma to Dan D. Shepherd and Josie P. Montoya. She was the first born and only girl of seven children. Trina had her fair share of health problems throughout her life. First, surviving polio at a young age, she fought through and managed to only have a limp. Later she struggled with lupus and arthritis. In recent years she persevered through heart and lung disease. Unfortunately, cancer ultimately took her from us all.
Trina graduated from Mount St. Mary's High School in 1968, then went on to take accounting courses at Rose State College and OSU-OKC. During her working years she did accounting and bookkeeping for several companies. She ultimately completed her working career with the Oklahoma Tax Commission, retiring in 2013 after 17 years of faithful service. In 1971 she married (Randy) William R. Ventris . Together they built their family in OKC with their daughters, Chasey and Brandy. Sadly, in 1973 Randy passed from this life too early, but Trina continued to remain a strong resilient mother to her children. Later, in 1983 she met Patrick Burton, a single father, who would become the love of her life and father to Chasey and Brandy. On August 1st, 1986, Trina and Pat were wed. Together they had many adventures and lived life to its fullest with their children, Chasey, Brandy, and Beau. They were married for 37 years until her passing.
Trina has lived in central Oklahoma her whole life. She was a devoted Catholic, prayed her Rosary and read the Bible daily. She attended St. Joseph's Old Cathedral in OKC. She was a very loving spouse and mother, who was always there to take care of her family. She was the matriarch of the family and taught her children how to be wonderful parents. She also loved her Pekingese dogs and enjoyed playing with them and watching them play together.
Trina enjoyed reading a good book and watching movies with grandchildren and husband. Saying she was a sports fan is an understatement! She loved watching basketball, tennis, and OU football. She wore her OU gear proudly on game days and loved game day watch parties with their OU football crew. Her family would describe her perfect day as birdwatching in the backyard, while drinking a cup of coffee and watching the sun rise. She also loved music from Tom Petty, Led Zeppelin, The Eagles, and The Rolling Stones. While all these things brought her great joy, her most precious moments were being with her family, her dogs, and of course, her love of all thing’s chocolate! Trina was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her late husband, Randal Ventris; parents, Dan and Josie Shepherd; four brothers, Donny Shepherd (wife Pamela), Joey Shepherd, John Shepherd (wife Mandy), and Tommy Shepherd; and her fur babies: her cat Belle, and her dogs Kuku, Chin Ho, Mieh Ji, and Mushu.
She is survived by her husband, Patrick Burton of Del City, OK; daughter Chasey Winchester (husband Greg) of Cleburne, TX; daughter Brandy Beach (husband Bobby Lee) of Warr Acres, OK; and son Beau Burton (wife Kelsey) of Edmond, OK; 11 grandchildren: Chaz Ventris; Logan Beach (wife Danielle) of Yukon, OK; Lauren McCoy; Lindsey McCoy; Bailey Beach; Shelby Berg (husband Hunter) of Cleburne, TX; Ashley Beach; Sawyer Beach; Lydia Burton; Meredith Burton; and Everly Burton; 9 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Danny Shepherd of OKC, OK; and Jimmy Shepherd (wife Diane) of Walters, OK; and her fur babies: cat-Midnight, dogs-Mr. Myagi and Mwamba.
