Virgil Dean Carpenter, 79, passed away suddenly October 11, 2010. Virgil was born September 16, 1931 in Topeka, Kansas to William and Gertrude (Bignall) Carpenter. He served proudly in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He attained the rank of CPL. After the service he married the love his life Frances Samson. Virgil loved to spend time with his family at the lake camping, swimming, boating and skiing. He had a long career as maintenance supervisor for Crooked Oak Public Schools. Other hobbies He enjoyed doing were tinkering in the garage, collecting knives and swords, giving kids a ride on his wheelchair. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife: Frances; son: Adrian Carpenter; daughters: Carolyn Lohr and husband Dennis, Shirley Kyle, Ann Ellis and husband Tom; 11 grandchildren: Harlene Juarez, Sharla Sadler, Troy Smith, McKayla Ellis, Adam Lohr, Dillon Lohr, Sabrina Lohr, Tally Carpenter, Phillip Woodmansee, Tressie Woodmansee, Rochelle Coleman; 20 great grandchildren and the one on the way. Funeral Services will be 2:00PM, Friday, October 15, 2010 at Sunny Lane Chapel with burial at Sunny Lane Cemetery.
