He served with the US Army from 1953 to 1955. Wayne was a self-taught trim carpenter who even built homes and a special play room where his grandchildren could play. He was a very easy going man who enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved to go fishing for catfish, camping, OU and Dallas Cowboys football, and bluegrass music. Many times he would prepare the catfish for a fish fry for all of those he cared for. Wayne would have done anything to help anyone even if it meant giving someone his tie if they seemed to like it. He was an active member of Del City First Assembly of God and even served as a deacon there.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Vivian Duke; and sister, Jeanne Sutliff. Survivors include his children, Donna Booker and husband Rick, Vicki Duke, Connie Bortvit and husband Peter, and Tammy Hicks and husband Todd; grandchildren, Robert Booker, Stephanie Moore, Scott Booker, Marie Butler, Stacie Choate, David Duke, Micheal Hopkins, Kaylee Woodall, Kristen Stewart, and Kelsey Bortvit; 16 great-grandchildren; siblings, Vera Richmond, Jimmy Duke, and Raymond Duke; and many other family members who will miss him dearly.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 10, 2015 at Bill Eisenhour Southeast Chapel with interment to follow at Sunny Lane Cemetery
