

William “Billy” Miller Parks, 70, passed away on January 19, 2013 at the Clinton Veteran’s Center, Clinton, OK. Billy was born on March 13, 1942 on the Parks family farm northwest of Reydon, OK. Billy was the only child of William “Billy” T. and Helen Gladys (Miller) Parks.
He started school in Reydon and attended numerous schools due to the military career of his father, and graduated from Heidelburg American High School, Germany in 1961. Billy returned to the United States and attended college at P.A.M.C., Goodwill, OK. He joined the Army, October 1966 at Ft., Sill, Lawton, OK and was sent to Fort Bliss, TX for training. While at basic training, he successfully completed eight weeks advanced individual training in MOS 16B, AIR DEFENSE MISSILE CREWMAN (NIKE HERCULES) given at Battery D; 1st Guided Middle Training Group (air defense) Fort Bliss, TX. Billy was transferred after his training to Fort Hancock, NJ. After his time spent there, he was then transferred to Germany where he continued his military appointment from February 20 till October 3, 1968. He returned to the United States in 1968 and continued serving in the reserves. Billy was honorably discharged from the United States Army on November 2, 1972.
Billy married, Cathy Lyn (Alexander) Parks of Reydon, OK on July 9, 1967 in Reydon, OK. He enjoyed model trains, traveling, fishing and spending time with his family. Billy was also involved and served as his son’s Boy Scout Master for many years.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents; and loving wife of 21 years, Cathy. Survivors include his only son, William “Billy” Allen Parks and wife Theresa of Broken Arrow, OK; four grandchildren, Brandyn Parks, Bailey Ogg, Bretlyn Parks, Dillon Ogg; and one great-grandson, Ryan Gage Ogg.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked than any donations be made to The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration, www.theaftd.org. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at the Bill Eisenhour Southeast Chapel. Military honors will follow at the Sunny Lane Cemetery.
