DELCAMBRE – Funeral services will be held for Mrs. Wilfred Robbins Clapp, the former Claire Jean Click, age 92, at 10:00 am on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Evangeline Funeral Home in Delcambre. Deacon Billy Vincent will officiate.
A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, May 24, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Lovelady Evergreen Cemetery in Lovelady, TX.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Thursday from 9:00 am until service time.
A native of Lovelady, TX, and longtime resident of Houston, Mrs. Clapp passed away on Monday, May 17, 2021 at The Carpenter House in Lafayette, LA.
Mrs. Clapp was the Valedictorian of the 1945 graduating class of Lovelady High School. She went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts from Abilene Christian University in 1948 with Magna Cum Laude honors and her Masters of Art in 1950 from Sam Houston State University.
She was a devoted teacher, both High School and Community College for many years.
Jean was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She attended Memorial Church of Christ in Houston, TX.
Mrs. Clapp is survived by her grandchildren, Travis Clapp and Leanne Clapp both of Abbeville; Angela McElroy of Lufkin, TX and Kristan Lockshire of TX; several great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred Robbins Clapp; two sons, Noel Thomas Clapp and Brian Hamilton Clapp; her parents, Calvy Hendrick and Eula Belle Brent and one brother, James Calvy Click.
