Jeffery Joseph Saunier

DELCAMBRE – A Mass Of Christian Burial will be conducted for Jeffery Joseph Saunier, age 81, at 3:00 pm on Friday, February 11, 2011 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. Fr. Herb Bennerfield will be the celebrant for the service. Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Lake Mausoleum.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 am on Friday until service time with a Rosary at 2:00 pm.

A native of Jefferson Island and resident of Delcambre, Mr. Saunier passed away at 1:15 pm on Tuesday, February 8, 2011 at Maison du Monde Nursing Home.

Mr. Saunier was a commercial fisherman for many years and a retired crewboat captain. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family. He will be missed greatly by all who knew him.

Mr. Saunier is survived by his children, Brian Saunier and friend June Gachassin of New Iberia, Karl Saunier and wife Tina Saunier of Delcambre, and Kathleen Desormeaux and husband Sim of Brookhaven, MS. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Sherry Saunier, Nichole S. Stotts, Destiny Saunier, Luke Desormeaux, and Jake Desormeaux; three great grandchildren, Jolie Saunier; Riley Stotts, and Brooklyn Romero; one brother, Jack Saunier and wife Gloria of Sunset; and one sister, Glory Delahoussaye and husband Raymond of New Iberia.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Yolande Foreman Saunier; parents, Bruno and Edna LeBlanc Saunier, Sr.; three brothers, James Saunier, Bruno Saunier, Jr., and Jerry Saunier; and two sisters, Gladys Comeaux and Betty Fremin.

Pallbearers will be members of the family.
