Louella Landry Bourque, a devout and faithful Catholic, and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, and dear friend to so many, passed away peacefully at her home with her family at her side. She was 86.
Louella was born January 7, 1935 in Erath, the only child to the late Esta Soriez Landry and the late Telesphar Landry. She spent her early years in Erath and eventually moved to Coteau. She was a homemaker dedicated to the love and care of her family. As her parents took great care of her through the years, she gave them great and loving care in the elder years. As a mother to six children and a host of grand and great grandchildren, she put their needs before her own. She cared for her grandson Chris like he was her very own child devoting herself fully until his death.
Those that knew Lou, as she was affectionately called, understood that faith and family were very important to her. Her daughter Linda shared that Louella was happiest when with her family. One of those times was watching her boys ride at the racetrack. Another favorite pastime was reading. Whether it was the racing form at the track, or a book, she read and it relaxed her. And lastly, it can’t be said enough that above all, family was her life. That beautiful smile, along with her legacy of faith and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Rest well Lou, for you have earned your heavenly reward.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Donald Bourque, Linda Bourque Coco and husband Louis Coco, Jr., Becky Pullin and husband Lee Pullin, Theresa Bourque, Curt Bourque and wife Rachael Bourque; her daughter-in-law, Mary Bourque; 15 grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Wilfred Joseph Bourque; her son, Kenneth Bourque; her grandson, Chris Bourque, and her daughter-in-law, Cindy P. Bourque.
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating Mrs. Bourque’s life will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday August 24, 2021 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church. Fr. Matthew Hebert, Pastor, will be the celebrant. Following the mass, she will be laid to rest alongside her husband in the church cemetery.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home in Delcambre on Tuesday from 9:00 am until 1:30 pm, with the Rosary being recited at 11:00 am.
