Sadly, we announce the passing of Albert A. Brown at age 100 years young.
Albert was born April 12, 1925 to parents Max and Rose Brown. Family lived
in Brooklyn, NY and then moved to CT when Albert was three years old. Albert
had two older brothers, Morris Brown and Jack Brown and a much loved older
sister, Pauline, who lived to be 106.
At ten years old, Albert was known as "Bicycle Brown" for repairing
neighbors' children's bikes. Hobbies growing up were all kinds of sports,
plus flying gasoline engine model airplanes.
With World War II looming, Albert, not wanting to be inducted into the
Infantry, enrolled in R.C.A. Institute for Learning Electronic
Communications and worked during the day for a large engineering firm in
Rockefeller Center, NYC.
Albert voluntarily enrolled in the U.S. Airforce at age 18. He served
thirty-eight bombing missions with the Fifteenth Air Force Stationed in
Italy, flying with a crew in a B-24 Liberator bomber, then retrained in a
B-29 Bomber scheduled to fly in the Far East when VJ was announced.
After discharge he joined his brothers Jack and Morris to form Majestic
Furniture Co., a complete home furnishing store in Danbury, CT.
He was married to the love of his life, Sally Peyser, for sixty eight
wonderful years. They had three children, Frederick, a tax specialist,
Howard, a computer engineer, plus a lovely daughter Loraine, who attained
the position of Finance Executive with G.E. She helped break the barrier for
women in the field of finance. Sadly, both Sally, Frederick, and Loraine
predeceased Albert.
Albert served as President of Danbury Lodge of B'Nai Brith plus President of
Danbury Jewish Federation. In his early years he formed and participated in
an interfaith bowling league comprising over thirty different religious
denominations.
Sally and Albert retired to Florida in 1980, and Albert lived in Coral Lakes
in Boynton Beach, FL.
until his death.
He leaves behind son Howard and grandchildren David and Kimberly, nieces
Rita (Donald) Young, Susan (Richard) Brown, nephews Robert (Gail) Ginsberg,
Gary (Judith) Ginsberg, Kenneth (Linda) Brown, Andrew (Carla) Brown and
Mitchell Brown.
A very sincere thank you goes to Albert's devoted and amazing caregivers
Wiladine Pierrilus, Monique Victor, and Anicia S. Cadet. They truly became
our extended family.
