August 16, 1959 – May 5, 2025
Cory Lance Waisner brought joy, humor, and light into every room he entered. Born on August 16, 1959, to Maurice and Rose Waisner, Cory grew up in New Hyde Park on Long Island, New York, where he forged lifelong friendships that endured for more than five decades.
A proud alumnus of the University at Albany, Cory earned his degree in psychology before embarking on a vibrant and successful career in licensing and sales within the handbag and accessories industry. He co-founded Global Design Concepts Inc., a leading accessories company with top character and brand licenses. At GDC, Cory played an instrumental role in growing the company from a startup to nearly $100 million in sales in under nine years, earning prestigious accolades such as the Disney Licensee of the Year Award. Later, he joined The Brand Liaison, a boutique licensing agency specializing in fashion, character, and entertainment brands, where he served as Executive Director of Manufacturer Representation and was affectionately known as the "Chief Entertainment Officer."
His French roots profoundly shaped Cory’s vibrant life. The son of immigrants from Paris, France, he grew up immersed in the culture and spoke fluent French with pride. His love for France and his French family was a defining part of his identity. Cory maintained close relationships with his cousins in Paris and embraced every aspect of French culture—the food, the music, the language, and above all, the people. From a perfectly baked croissant to a spirited conversation in French, Cory enjoyed celebrating his heritage and sharing it with everyone lucky enough to know him.
For 40 beautiful years, Cory shared an inseparable bond with his soulmate and best friend, Bonnie. Together, as “CORBON,” they were the definition of true partnership—each other’s rock, cheerleader, and perfect complement. He was a devoted and proud father to Morgan Weinblatt (Brian Weinblatt) and Parker Waisner, and in 2023, Cory welcomed one of the greatest joys of his life: becoming a grandfather to Jules Weinblatt.
A true dog whisperer, Cory shared an extraordinary bond with his beloved dog, Wilson, who remained a constant and cherished companion.
Cory’s quick wit, legendary sense of humor, and timeless movie quotes (favorites included, “Keep the change, ya filthy animal”) made him unforgettable. Even his iconic voicemail message—“you know what to do” after the beep—captured his unique blend of humor and warmth. A passionate traveler, Cory explored the world for business and pleasure, creating countless memories along the way, often blending business trips with culinary and cultural adventures.
Above all else, Cory’s life was a testament to the enduring power of love, laughter, heritage, and friendship. His vibrant spirit, kindness, and devotion to family and friends leave a legacy that will be remembered and treasured always.
