

Frances Vassall (nee Shebroe) died peacefully on March 31, 2026 at 87 years old in Delray Beach, Florida. While the last 8 years of her life Fran was a “Floridian”, she was a true New Yorker. Born in Brooklyn, she raised her family in the Bronx, worked in Manhattan, and retired in the Catskills.
Fran loved boating on the lake, fishing, bird watching, gardening, traveling, doing all kinds of puzzles, entertaining, socializing, watching Jeopardy, and she was a voracious reader. Cooking for family and friends was her love language.
Fran will always be remembered for her generous spirit, heart of pure kindness, infectious laugh, beautiful smile, and fierce love for her family and friends.
Fran is survived by her husband of 67 years, Irwin, son Marc (Gary Shulman) of Arlington, VA, and daughter Ilaine Wissing (George) of Port Chester, NY. Additionally, she will be deeply missed by her siblings, nieces, and a multitude of loving and caring friends.
In lieu of flowers, Fran’s family respectfully requests memorial donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Trustbridge Hospice Foundation.
The family invites family and friends to celebrate Fran's life at Riverside Stanetsky Memorial Chapel located at 7205 West Atlantic Ave in Delray Beach. An 11 am visitation with the family is scheduled for Monday April 27, 2026, followed by a service by Rabbi Marc at noon.
