Marshall “Russ” Temerson, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on Shabbat, July 7, 2023, in Boca Raton, Florida. He was 80 years young.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Noreen (Bilek) Temerson; his son, Brian (Lisa) Temerson; his daughter, Caryn (John) Shaw; his daughter, Jacqueline (Chris) Temerson - Fleischer; and his treasured grandchildren, Ashley (Alex) Boin, Jordan Adragna, Morgan Temerson, Ryan Shaw, and Samantha Shaw.
Russ was born June 23, 1943, in The Bronx, N.Y. He is the son of Jack and Etta (Berkowitz) Temerson. His late sister, Irene (Seymour) Kasper was Russ’ lifelong buddy. They held a tight connection to each other right up until their final days. From a young age, Russ gravitated towards athletics, whether playing stickball in his neighborhood streets, or rooting for his hometown team, the New York Yankees. He and his family also spent many happy summers together in Hurleyville, N.Y.
Upon Russ’ graduation from William Howard Taft High School, in 1961, he enlisted into the United States Navy. Being a sailor was a source of great pride and good fortune for Russ.
It was while stationed at the Great Lakes Naval Station, in North Chicago, Illinois, that he met the love of his life, Noreen Bilek. On Armed Forces Day in 1962, they met by divine chance, at a water fountain. The young couple quickly fell in love, and were married 6 months later in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. Russ at the time was stationed on the USS Monrovia APA 31, in Norfolk, Virginia.
After honorably serving his country, Russ and his new bride Noreen moved back to New York. Their son Brian was born in 1965, and three years later; their daughter Caryn. With the help and steady guidance of his brother in-law Seymour, Russ soon purchased his first Mobil gas station on Long Island. By 1973, Russ and his young family were in full bloom, welcoming the arrival of their third child, Jacqueline.
Following a successful career owning Kings Point Service Center, in Great Neck, Long Island, Russ and Noreen packed up and followed Russ’ dream to move to South Florida.
Russ truly loved the warm sunshine and beautiful beaches of his new home state. He enjoyed bike riding, going to “The Y”, fishing with his grandchildren, and Bible studies. A great family man, Russ loved spending time with his family most of all. He also continued working at several gas stations throughout his career, often with his devoted better half Noreen right by his side.
Russ Temerson’s earthly journey will always shine bright for future generations. A good man, one of strength, humor, and rare character, a fine example of a full life well lived.
