We will never forget our Uncle Harold, he was the smartest man we knew.  He was such a great man to talk to with just everyday problems.  He always seem to know something about everything.  He loved to visit us hillbillies in the Tennessee hills, because he always knew he could teach us something unique or at least give us something new to think about.  We will miss him so much.  We love you Uncle Harold, enjoy that beig beautiful oak tree I accendentily cut down.

My Uncle Harold was an amazing man. I found him to be a great person to talk to. He loved to debate some things but he gave you respect in your views. He was a thinker and a smart man with a strong personality and I regret not making an effort to talk with him for a long time. Please know he was loved and respected and this world truly is less  without Uncle Harold. We will miss him very much.

We are blessed to have been able to meet Chief Buskirk and though we only knew him for a short time we know he was a great man.

We are very sad at the loss of our sweet friend and neighbor, Harold. We will miss him greatly.

I met Harold in the fall of 1984.  I was a brand new librarian come to work at  Austin College, and had been advised that should there be a problem with our microfilm machines, Harold would be the person to call.  A problem had happened and I went to see him.  I'm sure his first impression of me was of a cocky young man telling him what needed to be done.  He let me know that IF he worked on that equipment, it was because he was willing to do so, NOT because it was part of his job.  He, then, proceeded to let me off the hook I'd put myself on, or maybe it was because of the look on my face.  I would visit Harold many, many times over the years he worked at AC.  To spend any time with Harold was to be in the company of a man who knew his craft and was generous with his time.  The last time I saw him was in 2012, when he came to Austin College to speak to Justin Banks, the college's archivist, about some old equipment which had been removed from Ida Green Communications Center.  I knew that if anyone might be able to tell if the equipment was salvageable, so the tapes which had been made with the equipment could be examined, it was Harold.  After all, I was sure he had kept that equipment working!  Again, generous with his time, Harold looked and gave his assessment.  He could skewer you with a look and then forgive you for the stupid thing you'd just said with a laugh.  All who spent any time in his company must mourn our loss of him.

It was a sad day when we read the news of Harold's passing.  He was a good friend and he will be missed.
