

He died November 22, 2015 at his home in Denison, Texas with his wife Gail Williams Howard of 43 years at his side. He was the father to Greg Howard of Memphis, Tennessee and Zac Howard and wife Christina of Denison, Texas. He was the grandfather to Morgan and Samantha Howard and Colton and Caden Howard. He was the brother to Danny Howard and wife Joyce of Burlison, Tennessee. His sisters are Georgia Dixon of Memphis, Eunice Rose and husband L. M. of Memphis, Yvonne Orcutt and husband Ken of Sun City, Florida.
Hermon graduated from Byars Hall High School in 1958. He served in the Tennessee National Guard from 1959-1967. Hermon was employed at Dupont Mphs plant 1962-1993, working his way up to Master Electrician. While there, in 1973, he was elected president of the American Federation of Grain Millers, International (AFGM) Local 352, a position which he held until retirement in 1993.
Before retirement Hermon was elected Constable of District 4 in Tipton County 1984-1993, where he served as vice president of the Constable Association. In 1993 he was employed as an International District Representative for the BCTGM International Union, working in the Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Tennessee area. Due to continued declining health, he retired in 2005. Hermon was a member of Parkside Baptist Church in Denison, Texas. He loved God, family and country.
Preceding in death was his parents: Fred and Sophia Howard, sister Vicki Howard Hamilton and recently oldest brother Thurston Howard.
Family night will be held Friday, November 27th from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Covington Funeral Home in Tennessee with funeral services Saturday, November 28th at 11:00 am at the same location. A memorial in Denison, Texas is pending until further notice.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Hermon’s name to Parkside Baptist Church Recreational Outreach Center, Denison, Texas.
