A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00 P.M., Saturday, December 4, 2010 at Bratcher Funeral Home, 401 W. Woodard St., Denison, TX 75020, with Home Hospice Chaplain Sheryl Myers giving the eulogy.
Born January 19, 1935, she was the fourth child of Stella Cox and Herman Wade (Hop) Hollingsworth. She was baptized at Calvary Baptist Church of Denison and a life-long member. She was a graduate of Denison High School (Class of 1953). Joyce married W. H. (Herb) Bozarth, Jr. on June 14, 1953. She and Herb lived their entire lives in Denison, where they ran a neighborhood grocery store, Bozarth’s Market, a true family grocery store located on Austin Avenue. All her children worked at the grocery store until they graduated from college. Joyce and Herb retired and sold their family business in 1984. They then traveled extensively until Herb passed away in October, 1994.
Joyce loved her family and friends. She had a strong faith in God and always provided a strong role model and example. She was active in PTA, Bluebirds and Cub Scouts for her children to ensure they had a great foundation for life. She enjoyed dancing (50’s music!), long walks, helping Herb with his school and city politics, traveling after retirement and most of all, just being with Herb. She loved animals and had many pets throughout her life and is survived by her dog Sam. Joyce was a very generous and giving person, even giving less fortunate the coat/gloves/scarf off her back. She was a great caregiver to family and friends. Everyone Joyce met touched her life and we feel she touched their lives as well. She will be missed dearly.
Joyce is survived by her three children, Karen Hughes of Denison, TX, who married Dave Hughes of Chicago, IL; Mike Bozarth of Austin, TX, who married Melinda Hoyle of Junction City, KS and Carol (Lyndy) Harris of Plano, TX, who married Randy Harris of Plano, TX. She is also survived by her two grandchildren: Meagan Bozarth of Austin, TX and David Hughes of Dallas, TX. She is also survived by her brother Joe Hollingsworth and wife Blanche of Framers Branch, TX and her sister Wanda Kenney of Knox, ME.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Herb, her mother and father and brother Bill Hollingsworth.
We would like to thank her many friends for all their love and support throughout her life. And a special thanks to Marie Gaines. We also want to thank Home Hospice of Grayson County, their staff helped us through this time of need.
