

Robin was born into a United States Air Force family in Sherman, Texas on September 20, 1953. Landing into a B-58 Hustler Supersonic Bomber pilot’s life took Robin through his childhood to faraway places such as Tripoli, Libya as well as throughout the United States.
He attended three high schools through transfers; Maconaquah High School in Bunker Hill, Indiana, Abilene Cooper High School and finally graduating from Burnet High School in Burnet, Texas. Robin completed his post-graduate studies at the University of Texas.
Following in his paternal grandparents' and newspaper owners' careers Robin eagerly jumped into the fast paced world and lifestyle of an investigative reporter. Beginning at the Taylor Press, Denison Herald and Sherman Democrat, his awards caught the eye of the publisher and chief editors at the Dallas Morning News and Fort Worth Star Telegram.
Robin's investigative reporting for the Dallas Morning News led him down so many interesting paths, including the investigation of the exhumation of Lee Harvey Oswald and following a nationally known criminal cult leader, exposing his doings. Robin's editors, following government orders, requested he cease further investigation stating to him he was in grave personal danger.
Robin also served as the Communications and Publications Director at the Dallas Supercollider and Southern Methodist University before he finally found his true calling as the Vice President of Dallas Area Rapid Transit.
Robin served at DART as the Vice President for Communications and Publications, building it from the ground up. Throughout the majority of his career at DART Robin and his staff received hundreds of accolades including numerous Katy Awards-the journalism equivalent to the Emmys/Grammys.
Robin was preceded in death by his parents; Col. William James and Barbara Stringfellow, brother SSGT Mark Stringfellow, as well as his paternal and maternal grandparents.
Robin is survived by his sister Kelly Mercy( Betty Tarver) and family of Denison, Texas; Kyle , Jeremie, Kate and Natalie Jarrard of Paris France, Mary Keeton and family of Denison, Texas; nephews; Mark, Steven and Ryan Stringfellow of the Dallas area ;nieces Kimberly Propst of Claremont North Carolina; Kristi Shelton of Greenville, South Carolina , seven great nieces & nephews and one great, great nephew.
Being the quintessential bachelor Robin’s friends were his family. Dearest to him were Norma Menchaca, Sue Bauman, Janie Pena, Gayle Glenn, Frances Dodds, Tom and Rose Corsack , Marcus and Kathy Enriquez, Susan Boucher , CBS News’ Scott Pelley and family, along with countless others.
An intimate memorial for Robin will be held at noon on January 30, 2016 at Angela’s Café and Restaurant located in Denison, Texas.
Robin was a life-long philanthropist for the rescue of all animals. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to your local pet rescue.
