I found out Al died in March of 2024.  Wow, was in out of touch.
I worked with Al from 1988 to 1998 and a brief stint after that. He was a mentor in my early years and I followed him as he moved around GWL.
We played many rounds of golf, had many lunches and copious happy hours. He had a ready laugh and was  funny. 
He helped me finish my basement. In a serendipitous moment,  I recently came across some old videos of us. It warmed my heart.
I feel a void even though we lost touch of each other. I wish I could have been around to celebrate his life. I  feel certain it was full of joy and of course, some challenges.
Rest in peace big man. I cherish the time we had.

Al was my friend at Great West.  I knew him for 21 years.  Al made me feel at home when I first started.  He made people feel comfortable because he was so friendly.  I will miss you and your great smile!  Thanks for being my friend.  Merlin.

This is more Ed’s (his brother) memory than mine, although I have wonderful ones too!
When his mother, Bessie was ready to deliver, she panicked and had Ed drive her to the clinic where “Moose” as his mom called him, was born 12 miles away,  and without a drivers license. Ed was stopped by a policeman and after a short discussion gave his mother a ticket. He was born that day  in Tularosa, New Mexico.
This photo of Albert as a 2 year old toddler in red sitting between Ed and their mom at our wedding almost 58 years ago. We will miss him terribly and all that his friends have said about him is so true. He was one in a million. 
Due to unforeseen circumstances and medical issues we are unable to attend.

My condolences to Al’s family.  I had the pleasure of working with Al for the last year, we bonded being newbies to the company as well as a shared fondness for beer and the sports.  It’s a testament to his warm character that although we only met virtually during these strange covid times, we built a strong bond. He will be missed, and I will raise a glass to him when I make it to Denver. 

My sincere condolences to Al’s family. Had the great pleasure of working with Al at Western Union.  We shared some great stories and he was very well respected at work. Gra Agus Solas from your Irish friend. Rest in Paradise my friend. You will be surely missed. Xo 

Our condolences to Albert's family.  We have loving memories of visiting Aunt Bessie in Alamogordo, NM and seeing Albert and his siblings.  We lived in CA so we could only visit during vacations as our children were about the same age as Albert.   Albert was determined to attend college and we are proud of his success and achievements.  We were introduced to Raelene when Albert was dating her and were happy when he married and had children of his own.   When Albert moved to Colorado it was a bit more difficult to stay in contact.  I'm sure his children and grandchildren will miss their loving dad/grandpa.  We are sorry for the deep loss that touched all of Albert’s family.  Love, Art, Joan and Luis Lucero

I grew up with Albert we were next door neighbors. Bessie his mom was there when i was born. We played army and had a secret whistle, went on hikes in the desert. Albert was my best man at my wedding.  Albert invited my family to stay with him when I took my kids to see New Kids On Block at Fiddlers Green. Rest in Peace Brother


Al and I did not get off to the greatest start. Simply put, I proposed and was engaged to his daughter, Amanda, after a short three month. Not too long after becoming married to his daughter, Al and I, just the two of us worked together to stain my deck. It was at that time, I professed my love for Amanda to Al.  I will always remember that day as it was then I knew Al had accepted me Into the family.

I knew Al from Launch Pad, Ursula and Copper Kettle breweries. He was family to ALL of us. He had the biggest heart, smile and laugh! We raised a glass to you last night at Launch Pad Al, in honor of your birthday.

This is heartbreaking.  Al was an outstanding database team manager, a fun lunch companion, and most importantly, a very good and humble man.  

My condolences to Al's family.  I was fortunate to work with Al at Western Union.  He always had a smile to share and was incredibly kind.  He will be missed.

The colleagues of Aegon Spain who had the opportunity to work with Al felt very shocked and saddened by this terrible loss. 
Unfortunately we did not have the opportunity to meet him in person, but remotely thousands of kilometers away and by videoconferencing you could perceive how good person Al was. 
We will certainly remember his "buenos dias" at the beginning of the meetings.


I was in Aurora for 4 years, met Al at our favourite watering hole Launchpad in 2015. He was one of the funniest, most friendly and kind hearted people I've ever met. I came to Colorado with no friends, and feel like I left family behind when I was posted out. I will miss you man. I was really hoping to come down and have a crawfish boil and a pint with you again soon. You were one of the best people I've known, and I'll never forget your laugh and your smiling face. 

I am so sorry for your loss. Everyone at Aegon really liked Al; he was so kind and cared about his team. He will be greatly missed. Your family is in my prayers.

I knew Al from Launchpad Brewery and often saw him at the 5pm mass at St. Michael the Archangel church on Saturday evenings. While we don’t have assigned seats, the regulars generally sit in the same areas. I sat one section from Al and always noticed the wooden rosary in his hand.  In this time I’m brought peace in knowing his faith was strong and important to him. 

I only just got to know Al as he became our leader at GTS. In the few interactions I was fortunate to have with Al I immediately felt a sense of grace with him. He was very personable, a humorous character, and a genuine man. I was so looking forward to visiting the Denver area and having a pint with Al as he insisted we all do if we were ever in the area. Our deepest of sympathies to Al's family, friends, and those lives he touched.   "Ask not how he passed, but how did he live?"
